Free municipal election town halls planned for Cambridge voters

Voters in the City of Cambridge can learn more about candidates running in this fall’s municipal election through a number of town halls that are being planned.
Cambridge Elects is hosting 10 town halls in September that will be free and open to the public.
The town halls will also be live streamed and uploaded to YouTube for those who can’t attend.
The goal is to inform voters and boost engagement ahead of the October election.
In 2022, voter turnout for the municipal election in Cambridge was 28.87 per cent, representing 27,689 voters out of 95,921 eligible voters.
Cambridge Elects says each town hall with follow a structured, 90-minute format that will feature moderated discussion based on questions from both organizers and the public.
Residents can submit questions and topics online prior to each town hall and during the events.
It includes for the Mayor Town Hall, which is scheduled for Sept. 24 at YMCA Cambridge beginning at 7 p.m.
The nomination period for the 2026 Ontario municipal election closes at 2 p.m. on Aug. 21 and voters head to the polls on Oct. 26.
