The long-awaited tribute to Kitchener’s iconic Oktoberfest tradition has almost arrived after being announced back in April.
On Thursday, the Kitchener Panthers will take to Jack Couch Park for a home contest, not as the iconic Panthers, but instead as the “Berlin Keg Tappers.” As part of a partnership with the K-W Oktoberfest team, the Kitchener Panthers will bring some Bavarian flair to the July 23 contest with the Toronto Maple Leafs, in a head-to-head rivalry that has been one of the Canadian Baseball League (CBL)’s best in 2026.
While K-W Oktoberfest is still a few months away, the smell of pretzels and sounds of Bavarian music will be on Thursday, as the organizers of the partnership have announced a variety of Oktoberfest-worthy activities.

A variety of Oktoberfest-themed in-game activities will take place on and off the field, with plenty of activities for the younger audience to get in the Oktoberfest spirit. For the adults, the beer tent will provide all the authentic Bavarian brews.
As was widely publicized during the theme game’s announcement, the Berlin Keg Teppers will take the field in uniforms akin to a full set of lederhosen. The checkered plaid shirt, complete with brown suspenders, will create one of the most unique one-off looks in the Canadian Baseball League this season. Fans looking to recreate the cultural flair can purchase their own limited-edition Keg Tappers merchandise, including collector hats, t-shirts, and the jersey itself.

The Kitchener Panthers will enter Thursday’s home contest as the 6th seed in the Canadian Baseball League, regardless of their result at the Brantford Red Sox on Sunday. Both the Panthers and their Oktoberfest-day opponent, the Toronto Maple Leafs, sit well back of the playoff cut line, as the season passed its halfway mark early last week.
Kitchener is 0-2 on the season vs. Toronto, the only team having played Toronto this season to not beat the Maple Leafs at least once. The Panthers’ recent 2026 all-stars, including Malik Williams and Petey Kiefer, will be called upon to help spur the offence to a much-needed victory in their pursuit of a top-5 seed in the CBL.

Canadian Baseball League Standings – As of July 18, 2026
The Oktoberfest in July contest vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs will take place Thursday, July 23, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. Gates will open at Kitchener’s Jack Couch Park at 6 p.m.
