Extra wet June in Waterloo Region, but average temps despite start of heat wave

The one word to describe June in the Region of Waterloo is not “hot” but “wet.”
The E.D. Soulis Memorial Weather Station at the University of Waterloo has released its latest monthly summary of weather, saying June was only 0.2 degrees above average for heat.
That’s despite the front end of the heat wave that had a heat warning in effect from the last Monday afternoon of the month into the first days of July.
The weather station does confirm the hottest day of the month, with a high of 32.5 Celsius, came at the end of June.
And in the middle of the month, an afternoon high of 27.3 on the 13th was down to a low of 8.1 by the morning of the 15th.
But it was the rain storms on the 17th and 18th that really stood out weatherwise, with 13.2 mm and 29.6 mm of rain coming down respectively.
The Soulis station report calls those the wettest days of the month.
June’s rainfall was 102.0 mm in total, much more than the average 71.0.
For the first half of the year the region had 523.4 mm, compared to the average of 416.1.
