Guelph man arrested after fleeing from police with his children in vehicle

A 30-year-old man in Guelph is facing charges after fleeing from police with two of his small children in the backseat.
According to Guelph police, officers were interacting with a man while investigating an unrelated matter for about an hour on Canada Day.
During that time, police observed that the man was impaired and had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.
Later that same day, while investigating a separate incident, they saw the man driving a car, and knew that he was impaired.
Officers turned on their lights to pull the man over, but he failed to stop. They noticed that two small children were in the back seat of the vehicle, and they decided not to pursue.
Then on Thursday, police were investigating an unrelated matter outside the city and saw tire tracks across a lawn that led them to the vehicle from the previous night.
The man was arrested and charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, flight from police and driving while prohibited.
