A tragic update from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on a swimmer who went missing on the Victoria Day long weekend.
On the holiday Monday, around 3 p.m., Lambton OPP were called to the popular provincial park, to reports of a group of people in distress on a raft.
There were five people on the raft. OPP said two swam to shore and two others returned to the raft. One person was unaccounted for.
They now confirm in an email to 570 NewsRadio that the swimmer’s body was found nearly two weeks later along the shores of Lake Huron in the Port Franks area on May 29.
“Our thoughts remain with the individual’s family, loved ones, and the first responders who assisted throughout this incident, and the broader community affected by this tragic loss,” said an OPP spokesperson.
OPP said the missing swimmer was a 22-year-old from Nepal.
