Pair of serious collisions send motorcyclists to hospital

Two people are now in hospital following a pair of serious motorcycle crashes across Waterloo Region.
The first crash was reported just after 4 p.m. in Wilmot Township with regional police responding to the intersection of Bridge Street and Walker Road for a collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV.
The motorcyclist, a 53-year-old man from Embro, sustained serious injuries and was taken to an out-of-region hospital.
That intersection was closed for several hours and has since reopened — though the investigation is still ongoing.
It was less than an hour later when OPP responded to a crash on Highway 7/8 near Courtland Avenue involving a motorcycle and an SUV.
It’s alleged that the motorcyclist, riding a 2022 Brutale Sportsbike, collided with the rear of a Mercedes SUV, sustaining critical injuries.
In both collisions, the motorcyclists were the only involved parties with reported injuries.
It’s unclear if any charges will be laid as a result of those crashes.
