Frost advisory stays in place as rain, snow mix falls on Waterloo Region

A chilly few nights have prompted Environment Canada to keep a frost advisory in place for Waterloo Region.

The advisory was first issued Wednesday, and extended to Friday morning as temperatures were once again expected to hover around the freezing mark.

The early morning hours on Thursday even saw mixed precipitation fall across the region, some areas reported wet snow.

“Damage to plants, trees, and crops is possible,” reads the advisory.

If you already have plants out, weather officials are warning you might want to cover them up.

570 NewsRadio Weather Specialist Denise Andreacchi is calling for temperatures to stay chilly heading into the weekend.

“The ups and downs of spring continue here,” she said.

“It’s a colder day Thursday, near 10 C, the average this time of year is 16 C.”

She said it won’t warm up much for Mother’s Day, with a high of 12 C on Sunday.

However, the Victoria Day long weekend is looking to be more seasonal.
