Arrests made in Guelph guns and drugs investigation

Two Guelph residents are facing charges following a drug trafficking investigation that began with a tip from the public.
Guelph police say an investigation was launched earlier this year after the drug unit received a tip about two people trafficking drugs in the city.
On Wednesday, police executed search warrants at two apartments in the Willow Road and Dawson Road area.
Officers seized suspected fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and hydromorphone. The street value was estimated at $17,000.
They also recovered a loaded 9mm handgun with the serial number removed, two replica firearms and approximately $7,000 in cash.
A 38-year-old Guelph man is charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, tampering with a firearm serial number and possessing proceeds of crime under $5,000.
A 44-year-old Guelph woman is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possessing the proceeds of crime under $5,000.
Both were held for a bail hearing.
“We continue to see a troubling number of firearm‑related incidents and criminal activity that puts our community at risk,” said Guelph Police Service Chief Gord Cobey in a release. “This activity will not be tolerated, and our officers remain focused on proactive enforcement and targeted initiatives to keep our city safe.”
