Charges anticipated after two-vehicle collision in Waterloo

Regional police have launched an investigation into a two-vehicle collision that occurred in Waterloo and say charges are anticipated.

The crash happened in the Fischer Hallman Road and University Avenue area as emergency services responded the intersection just before 6 a.m.

One of the drivers, a 72-year-old man from Waterloo, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The other driver, a 26-year-old man from Kitchener, attended a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection was closed for several hours during the course of the investigation.

Charges are anticipated as the investigation is still ongoing.

Police are asking anyone with information, including those with dashcam footage of the incident, to reach out.
