Suspect arrested following hit-and-run, assault

A Kitchener man is facing multiple charges following a hit-and-run collision in Waterloo that led to an assault.

It happened on Feb. 26 when two vehicles were involved in a minor collision.

Police allege that following the collision, one of the drivers directed racial slurs towards the other while physically assaulting him.

The victim, a 65-year-old Waterloo man, reported no physical injuries.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

On Mar. 3, a 26-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and charged with several offences including:

  • Assault;
  • Mischief under $5,000;
  • Fail to remain; and
  • Careless driving.
