Those planning a wedding in the Royal City won’t be able to have their ceremony at City Hall for the rest of this year.
Wedding ceremonies at Guelph City Hall have been a simple, inexpensive solution for folks looking to get hitched.
However, there are no available bookings from now until the end of March, and a staffing issue will keep ceremonies from happening for the remainder of the year.
“There will be no marriage ceremony appointments offered from April through December 2026 at Guelph City Hall,” reads a message posted to the City of Guelph website. “We will update our marriage ceremony services through Guelph City Hall in December 2026.”
Staff at the City of Guelph are reportedly being moved over to preparing for the upcoming election cycle at the end of October.
Folks will still be able to obtain a marriage license at city hall; the ceremony will have to be held elsewhere.
Nearby communities in Wellington County, like Elora, are still available for ceremonies for the remainder of the year.
