ION train service resumes in Kitchener after equipment damage

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

ION train service was temporarily halted through part of Kitchener on Friday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m., Grand River Transit said ION trains were not running between the Kitchener Market and Fairway stations because of a technical issue.

GRT staff confirmed the issue was related to damage to an arm that supports the overhead LRT wires near the Huron Spur and Overland Drive.

Staff investigated the problem and ION replacement shuttle buses were bridging the gap in the interim.

ION train service resumed in the affected area shortly before 5 p.m.
