Cambridge driver clocked doubling speed limit on rain-slicked Hwy. 401

There’s speeding, and then there’s speeding like the kind a Cambridge driver is accused of doing down Highway 401 in the rain.

The OPP shared the details of a pullover in a social media post on Wednesday evening.

They alleged a vehicle was clocked at 210 km/h on the highway in Cambridge around the Speedsville Road overpass, while the driver was weaving through traffic in the rain.

Police said the 20-year-old driver was stopped and charged with dangerous operation, and stunt driving.

A police photo shows the white car pulled over on the left shoulder of the eastbound 401 by Townline Road, with a red tow truck waiting at the scene.

The driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and their car was impounded for 14 days.
