A 53-year-old woman is facing charges after a couple of hate-motivated incidents in Cambridge.
According to Waterloo regional police, the first situation happened on Sept. 30 in the area of Wellington Street and Dundas Street North. The woman allegedly approached a group of girls who were walking in the area and began yelling racial comments at them. She fled the area in a vehicle before police arrived.
Then, later that same evening, police received reports of a woman yelling racial comments towards people attending a place of worship. Once again, she left before officers arrived.
Members of the South Division Neighbourhood Patrol, General Investigations Unit, and the Hate Crime Unit investigated the incident, and on Tuesday, they arrested the 53-year-old woman.
She was charged with two counts of disturbance, one count of mischief, and is scheduled to appear in court.
