Chilly Halloween in store for Waterloo Region trick-or-treaters

It’s set to be a fun-filled, frightful Halloween across Waterloo Region, but with a cool evening expected, it’ll be an evening of bundling up for those trick-or-treaters.
A bit of good news, though, in that Halloween forecast, with 570’s Meteorologist Carl Lam saying it’ll be a rainy day, but by the time families head out to collect their candy, it should only be a cloudy evening.
“This Halloween, it’s going to be a wet start to the day,” Lam said. “The good news here is that by the time we get to about five to eight o’clock, in that prime trick-or-treating window when you’re going out with the kids, it’s not going to be wet, that’s the good news.”
Lam said the rain is expected to die down by the time the evening rolls around. he added that the rain will be swapped out for a chill, getting very brisk and windy by the time those trick-or-treaters head out.
“The main thing as we get you ready for trick-or-treating tonight is that it’s going to feel much colder than the temperatures actually suggest,” Lam stated. “By the time we get to about five o’clock tonight, we should be around 7 C.

He said it will only get colder as the evening progresses, recommending families bundle up with sweaters, mittens, and toques as they head door-to-door.
“Once the sun sets, that’s when things will start to cool down quite quickly,” he said. “By about 7 o’clock, we’re closer to 5 C or so, feeling closer to the freezing mark when you factor in the wind.”
Officials are asking people to stay warm, stay safe, and have plenty of fun heading out for all those Halloween festivities.
