The folks at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame (CBHOF) in St. Marys, Ont. have been watching the Major League Baseball playoffs closely, especially this magical run by the Toronto Blue Jays.
The way the 2025 Blue Jays have rallied Canadians has been something special.
Scott Crawford, Executive Director of the CBHOF, told 570 NewsRadio they’re beginning work on gathering items to celebrate the 2025 World Series run.
“We’re staying in touch with the Blue Jays for key artifacts to bring into our collection. From (Trey) Yesavage’s start the other night, (George) Springer’s homerun earlier in another series, to (Addison) Barger’s big grand slam, things like that that are really key. We want to preserve baseball history, right?”
While it remains to be seen what artifacts will make it into the hall, Crawford said it will be tough to top what they already have on display.
“The coolest thing we have is the home plate that Joe Carter stepped on and the helmet he wore when he hit the home run. It’s basically the biggest artifact you can get is the home plate because Joe Carter’s home run wasn’t official until he stepped on that plate. Paul Beaston donated that plate to us, and Joe Carter gave us his helmet.”
As baseball fever grips the country, artifacts from this year’s Blue Jays are sure to attract more visitors to the Hall of Fame. But aside from the added foot traffic, Crawford believes these 2025 Jays will have a lasting impact across the nation.
“It’s all about the kids falling in love with the game of baseball. This is going to up registration, this is going to sell more t-shirts that the kids will find cool to wear to school the next day. So, it’s all about the kids, and it’s going to help a lot.”
Those looking to make a trip to St. Marys to visit the CBHOF will need to book a slot ahead of time. The CBHOF is open only by request during the winter months.
They open Wednesday to Friday, starting on May 1.
The CBHOF induction ceremony takes place each year in June.
