Man wielding machete arrested in Kitchener

A man was arrested and charged after he was reportedly wielding a machete near downtown Kitchener.
Waterloo regional police said they were called about the man late Sunday afternoon, just before 5:30.
He was allegedly hitting objects with the weapon near Weber Street West and Victoria Street North.
No one was hurt, but when someone approached him, police said he threatened them and tried to hit them with the machete.
The suspect ran away but was found by WRPS a short time later. The machete was also found.
A 31-year-old Kitchener man has since been charged.
Those charges include Uttering Threats, Assault with a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
