Police lay murder charge in Kitchener homicide investigation

A day after Waterloo regional police launched a homicide investigation in Kitchener, the service announced that charges have been laid.

On Monday, police took an adult female into custody after a man was pronounced dead at a home in the Cameron Street North and Weber Street East area.

On Tuesday, police confirmed a 29-year-old Kitchener woman has been charged with second-degree murder.

Police previously said the victim and the accused were known to each other, but further details about their relationship have not been released.

Officers responded to the Kitchener residence on Monday morning to conduct a well-being check. Once inside, they found a 70-year-old man with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the investigation into the murder is ongoing by their major crime unit.
