Homicide investigation launched after man found dead in Kitchener home

Regional police were called to a home in Kitchener and found an adult male with significant injuries who was later pronounced dead.

It happened on Monday around 9:30 a.m. in a house near Cameron Street North and Weber Street East. Officials said in a press release that a well-being check was requested.

Once on the scene, police found the man. They took an adult female into custody. It is believed the two were known to each other, officers said.

Heavy police presence is expected in the area as officials conduct the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777.

Home is known to neighbours

“I feel like this could have been avoided,” Carolyn, a member of the community, told CityNews Kitchener in an interview. “I came home from work today to see his body being pulled out of the building.”

She said that although it’s a shock, in the past month, police have been called to the residence multiple times.

“Because all summer long it’s been nothing but yelling, screaming and lights on between the two of them in the basement,” she said.

The last time officers were called was on Friday.

“Police were there going around the building with flashlights at 1:00 in the morning, along the lower unit,” she said.
