Ontario invests $5M into racialized, Indigenous supports for business owners

The provincial government is investing in businesses who help eliminate barriers for racialized communities.

Graham McGregor, the minister of citizenship and multiculturalism, was in Kitchener on Wednesday at Crafty Ramen to announce a cash injection of $5 million into the Racialized and Indigenous Supports for Entrepreneurs (RAISE) Grant Program.

“This grant didn’t just help my business grow, it helped me grow,” said Miki Ferral, owner of Crafty Ramen and previous recipient of the RAISE. “I’m grateful to the government of Ontario and the team behind RAISE for creating spaces for small business to thrive.”

Entrepreneurs who are eligible for the program receive business training, coaching, and a one-time grant of $10,000.

“In today’s uncertainty, with the tariff threats from President Trump, it’s more important than ever to be betting on Ontario entrepreneurs; that’s why this program from RAISE is so important,” said McGregor.
