Driver charged with defective brakes in serious pedestrian incident

Defective brakes could have been an issue in a crash that saw a woman walking in Cambridge seriously injured.

Tuesday afternoon, around 4 p.m., Waterloo regional police were called to Coronation Boulevard near Goldie Avenue, between Cambridge Memorial Hospital and the Delta.

A 39-year-old woman from St. George was reportedly walking in the area when she was hit by a car.

The vehicle, is described as a white Toyota sedan, and its driver, a 54-year-old man from Cambridge, is facing a couple of charges.

The offences include careless driving causing bodily harm and defective braking system.

The woman was sent to hospital with serious physical injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing with police looking to hear from any witnesses.
