Break and enter investigation leads to 8 arrests

Only minor physical injuries were reported after several individuals attempted to break into a home near downtown Kitchener.

According to regional police, the investigation began with multiple disturbance calls from the Charles Street East and Stirling Avenue South area on July 2.

Police say eight individuals attempted to gain entry into the residence, causing damage to the structure. The victim was assaulted.

Police arrived and arrested six adults and two youths. Charges include: assault with a weapon, break and enter and mischief under $5,000.

It’s believed this was a targeted incident as the victim and suspects were known to each other.

The suspects were held for a bail hearing.
