Driver charged after her vehicle hits a grocery store in Waterloo

A Food Basics store in Waterloo is going to need some repair work after a driver collided with the side of the building.

Waterloo regional police said it happened at the grocery store at Laurelwood Drive and Erbsville Road, around 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

They said a Toyota RAV4 struck the side of the building, causing what police describe as “extensive damage.”

Early Monday morning, a single piece of plywood could be seen covering an area at the side of the building, with some grey bricks stacked nearby.

Police said the driver is a 58-year-old from Wellesley Township, and she sustained minor injuries.

She was charged with dangerous operation.

The investigation is still underway.
