The community is embracing a Cambridge family who has been tragically left without a mother after a fatal crash on Highway 401 on Saturday.
A GoFundMe started for the family of 40-year-old Tamara Milotic has raised nearly $60,000 in the span of just a few days.
On Saturday, Milotic and her five-year-old daughter, Emma, were travelling east down Highway 401 through Milton when her vehicle struck a guardrail and was subsequently hit by a pickup truck.
Her daughter received minor injuries, nobody in the pickup was injured as a result of the crash, but Milotic was pronounced dead at the scene.
Since the incident, hundreds of donations have poured in to offer some financial assistance for the family as they deal with the loss of a mother.
“We can never replace Tammy and understand why this has happened to her,” reads the GoFundMe started by Lisa Milotic.
“We know she loves her family and would do anything for them, and so we must try to do what we can to serve her memory.”
According to OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt, police don’t anticipate any charges as a result of this incident.
Schmidt added that, fortunately, the five-year-old girl who was in the vehicle at the time of the incident is expected to make a full recovery.
