Police seeking suspect who tried to lure kids into woods in Kitchener

Police need to find a young man they say was trying to lure kids into a wooded area in Kitchener.

Waterloo regional police said they were called out around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, to the area of Zeller Drive and Susan Crescent, just east of Lackner Boulevard.

Lackner Woods Public School, Zeller Park, and two natural areas are in that area of Kitchener.

Police alleged a young man had come up to three youths and attempted to lure the kids to follow him into a nearby forested area. They say the youths ran off instead and called police.

Officers were unable to find the suspect, who is now considered a suspicious person.

He was described as white, 17 to 20 years old, about 5’10”, with an average build.

At the time he was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, with black pants and Nike shoes, riding a black mountain bike.

Anyone who knows anything about that person, or what happened, is urged to contact police at 519-570-9777, or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477, or by clicking here.
