Two-day outdoor music festival in Kitchener cancelled

Just over a month after the line-up was announced for an outdoor concert in Kitchener, the event has been abruptly cancelled.
Advertising for Songscape Music Festival started popping up on social media in early April and said it would happen outside of The Aud for two days in June. Some big acts were announced, including Theory of a Deadman, Headstones, Finger Eleven, Mother Mother and Bahamas.
The festival was promoted as a charity event with proceeds set to benefit the Grand River Hospital Foundation and The Awesome Music Project.
In an online post last week, the festival confirmed the event has been cancelled.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances the organizers of the Songscape Festival on June 20 & 21 have made the decision to cancel the event,” the social media post said. “All refunds will be available at the point of purchase.”
One of the organizers with Songscape told 570 NewsRadio it wasn’t a decision made lightly and called it upsetting.
In a statement, The Awesome Music Project said, “The Awesome Music Project was only to be a recipient of some of the funds. We were sad to hear that the festival is cancelled, and we wish them well.”
