Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is continuing to investigate a motorcycle crash involving a stopped vehicle in Kitchener, sending two people to hospital with serious injuries.
Officers say it happened Saturday afternoon at around 3:45 p.m., when a Yamaha motorcycle rear-ended a stopped black Honda vehicle on King Street East, near River Road East.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 32-year-old man from Kitchener, as well as a passenger on board, a 36-year-old woman, were both transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Honda, also a 32-year-old Kitchener man, was unharmed from the incident.
The collisions led regional police to close a stretch of King Street East for several hours, into the evening, for the initial investigation and for cleanup efforts. The closure has since been reopened.
The full investigation is still ongoing by regional police, who are now saying charges are anticipated.
WRPS is now asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash-cam footage of it to reach out.
