Extended stretch of beautiful, sunny weather bursting into the region

By Justin Koehler

It’s great news across Waterloo Region, after battling through cold winter weather and pushing through a wet start to spring, a larger bout of sunshine is finally on the way.

Thursday could see some cloudy conditions, with some inconsistent brisk temperatures at times into Friday as well, but the region should see a full stretch of sunshine lasting into the weekend and through much of next week.

“Overall, it’s a beautiful stretch of weather today right through to Mother’s Day on Sunday, even into early next week,” Jill Taylor, 570 Meteorologist, said. “We should have plenty of sunshine. We may not get any wet weather again until Tuesday night next week.”

It all comes at a perfect time with Mother’s Day right on the horizon on Sunday, as well as the Victoria Day long weekend coming not long after.

It’s a great opportunity to get out to get some of that yard work done or even enjoy some of the various offerings and activities seen across Waterloo Region.

Taylor said a bit of warmth should come hand-in-hand with all that sunshine, giving an almost summer preview at times. She mentioned that it should last just as long as the sunny conditions will throughout the region.

Full details from 570 Meteorologist Jill Taylor on what’s expected in the local forecast across Waterloo Region.

“It looks warm as we head into the May long weekend,” said Taylor. “I know that’s still a ways out, but it looks like we are going to get some consistent warm highs next week and perhaps even a touch of humidity as well.”

She said to expect highs of 22 C on Saturday, 20 C on Sunday on Mother’s Day, and stated that it could even hit 26 C on Monday. A bit of rain could be on the way for Tuesday, but it’s still expected to be a fairly sunny stretch lasting through to Victoria Day.
