Careless driving charge laid in collision between Hyundai and horse and buggy

A 21-year-old male from Wellesley Township has been charged with careless driving in connection with a serious collision involving a horse and buggy in March.

Shortly before 9 a.m. on March 23, emergency services responded to reports of a crash between a Hyundai and a horse and buggy in the area of Greenwood Hill Road and Hessen Strasse.

The driver of the horse and buggy, a 14-year-old male from Wellesley Township, was airlifted to an out-of-region hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was not injured.

The investigation is still ongoing but police say the driver of the Hyundai has now been charged with careless driving.

As police continue to piece together the incident, they are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage to come forward.
