Waterloo Region will get a taste of spring this Easter weekend, with some sunshine, some rain, some cold, and some warmth expected at times.
It kicks off with a chance of thunderstorms early Saturday, but temperatures remain warm with a high of 18 C.
“So far this Saturday, it has been very warm across the Tri-Cities,” 570 Meteorologist Carl Lam said. “We’ve had temperatures since midnight in the upper teens, which will max out near 20 C today.”
He added that a cold front is expected to push through as early as the afternoon, where temperatures will dip towards 10 C, before falling to a low of just 1 C overnight.
It’s a different story for Sunday, which Lam said is expected to be the best day of the weekend.
“Easter Sunday it is easily the sunniest day of the long weekend, but it is going to be a bit cool especially for those Easter egg hunts during the morning because it’s going to take some time for us to warm things up,” he said. “We’ll be into the low teens as we go into the afternoon and no weather worries if you have to get from point A to point B tomorrow.”
Be sure to make the most of the sunny weather that will be seen for Easter Sunday, as it’ll be back to umbrellas and rainboots heading into the workweek, with cloudy skies and showers expected throughout Monday.
