Guelph man facing charges for allegedly threatening daycare, city staff

A Guelph man is facing charges for allegedly threatening a daycare and city staff in social media posts that included the image of a weapon.

Guelph Police say the became aware of these threats Wednesday and made an arrest the next day.

Police say the threats focused on a daycare near the suspect’s home, and one of the posts included a photo of an improvised weapon.

Officers were at the daycare Thursday morning, and spotted the man walking towards it.

Those officers stopped the man with a brief struggle, and the man was put in handcuffs.

Police say a search of the man’s home turned up the weapon from the social media post.

The weapon cannot be identified as it is now evidence before the courts.

Police confirmed to 570 NewsRadio there were separate threats made against city staff not connected to the daycare.

The 33-year old man is charged with two counts of uttering threats, possession a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and two counts of breaching a probation order.
