Owner of Central Fresh Market succumbs to cancer, remembered for ‘legacy of kindness’

A local business owner known for his love for community has died.

Central Fresh Market announced the passing of owner Mike Williamson, who was battling cancer.

The posting by the Market said “As the owner of Central Fresh Market, Mike’s love for this community went beyond his store’s walls – he cared deeply for his employees and cherished every customer who walked through his doors.”

The business goes on to say Williamson’s “legacy of kindness and generosity will live on” as the locally owned and operated grocery store will stay open.

The Williamson family will continue to run the business.

Comments to the Central Fresh Market Facebook Page have been flooded with words of kindness and fond memories from both customers and past employees.

“Mike was generous beyond words in supporting so many community initiatives, and especially youth sports. He knew his customers on sight and by name and always had a smile for our kids when they were little,” writes Tracy Strassburger Morency.

Judy Devison wrote, “It was always a pleasure to see Mike walking so proudly throughout his store smiling and talking to his staff and customers! … You could tell that his staff had the greatest respect for him and that he was a gem to work for!”
