Guelph police warn about release of high-risk offender

The Guelph Police Service has made a statement regarding the release of a high risk offender from police custody on Mar. 1.

Medhani Yohans, 35, has a history of violence and has served time for two sexual assaults on strangers. Police say there are concerns he could repeat these offenses in the future.

Due to this, he’s believed to pose a risk to the community and, in particular, to women.

Police say his primary residence over the last eight years has been in Guelph, and its believed he will return to the city on release.

Anyone who sees him is warned not to approach him or make contact, but instead contact police at 519-824-1212 so they can ensure he’s abiding by his release conditions.

Yohans is described as a black male, 5’9″, with a thin build, black hair, and brown eyes.
