Cambridge man arrested following child pornography investigation

A Cambridge man has been arrested following a child pornography investigation by Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Cybercrime – Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

The man allegedly initiated contact online with a person he assumed to be a young girl but was actually part of an undercover police operation.

In their conversations, the man talked about sexually explicit acts that involved the child and tried to get them to send intimate photos as well.

On Jan. 31, a search warrant was completed that led to the 40-year-old’s arrest, as part of the joint investigation involving Saskatoon Police Service.

The man faces multiple charges, including luring a child, making child pornography, and attempting to make child pornography.

The man has since been held for a bail hearing.
