WRPS investigating vehicle seen speeding through parking lot with a child inside

An investigation is underway after a vehicle was seen speeding through a parking lot in Kitchener, with a child inside yelling for help.

Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) says it responded to the area of Highland Road West and Ira Needles Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. on Friday after receiving several calls. They say initial reports involved a vehicle driving at dangerous speeds through a parking lot in the area.

When officers arrived on scene, they were able to speak with witnesses of the incident, who added that the vehicle was travelling with the passenger door open.

Reports allege a child’s arm could be seen hanging out of the vehicle, and cries for help could be heard coming from the child.

The vehicle in question is described as a white, two-door convertible with a black top. The investigation is ongoing with police now searching for both the driver and the vehicle in question.
