Rainbow crosswalk damaged by tire markings in Waterloo
The rainbow crosswalk completed this year in Uptown Waterloo was “intentionally” damaged Dec. 22 by a vehicle.
Around 12 p.m. regional police responded to reports of property damage to a pedestrian crosswalk at King Street South and Willis Way. They determined the tire markings on the painted pride flag were deliberate.
The painted rainbow crosswalk was revealed at the end of May as a way to celebrate Pride Month in the community. It had to be restored after it was previously vandalized during Pride Month in 2023.
