Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener sold; watermain break hits at the same time
One of the best known and most popular shopping locations in Waterloo Region has been sold to a new owner.
Fairview Park Mall was sold by Cadillac Fairview to Westcliff Group, based in Montreal, for an undisclosed dollar amount. The new owner described the mall as “a dominant retail destination in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge area since 1966.”
A statement from Westcliff said the mall has a “strong market presence, exceptional tenant offerings, and deep community roots.”

“This acquisition reflects our confidence in the resilience of physical retail spaces, even in the digital age. By fostering environments that serve as gathering places and centers of commerce, we reaffirm our belief in the enduring value of human interaction and local engagement.”
“This acquisition reflects our confidence in the resilience of physical retail spaces, even in the digital age,” Vice President of Westcliff and Head of Leasing, Nicolas D’Aoust, wrote. “By fostering environments that serve as gathering places and centers of commerce, we reaffirm our belief in the enduring value of human interaction and local engagement.”
The sale was announced by Westcliff on Monday, the same day the mall experienced a water main break that forced it to close for at least that day, only weeks before holiday gift-giving begins.
Catherine Soulié, Westcliff’s Director of Communications and Marketing, has confirmed that Fairview Park is open on Tuesday.
