Holiday market at Bingemans returns after theft of last year’s funding

The Holiday Market is coming back for another year to Bingemans. The former organizer tried to cancel it last year after allegedly gambling away all the vendor’s money.

After a Cambridge woman was charged with fraud, Jordan Butler and a group of vendors decided to run the event themselves which saw success, with some stalls running out of products.

“It was great to show that just because one bad apple tried to ruin it for so many people, we were able to pull it together,” said Butler, speaking as a guest on The Mike Farwell Show.

They are organizing it again this year and have over 160 vendors planned.

“There’s just so much that goes on, and hours and hours of floor planning and organizing. It’s a lot of work but we love doing it because we’re there for this community and our community of small businesses in this area is honestly phenomenal,” added Butler.

The Holiday Market runs Sunday, Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Bingemans located at 425 Bingemans Centre Dr. in Kitchener.  

The event will have vendors with food and baked goods, along with eight brand new entrepreneurs, all of which are 16 or younger.

“We have Santa coming, we have a balloon twister, we have airbrush tattoos, we have horse sleigh rides, we have the Food Bank coming in this year taking non-perishable items.”

Shoppers will be able to not only buy Christmas presents but also home décor, planters, company gifts and homemade items.

There is a $2.00 admission fee for anyone older than 16-years, with a portion of proceeds going to Safe Paws Animal Rescue of Ontario.
