It seems Mother Nature is in the mood for some holiday spirit.
Snow squalls are in the forecast as November wraps up and December arrives on Sunday.
570 NewsRadio weather watchers are keeping an eye on scattered flurries rolling in Friday, with 1 to 2 cm possible.
Throughout the weekend, a small accumulation of snow is possible, most notably on Sunday night.
The beginning of December could be marked with up to 3 cm of snowfall, with temperatures dipping below the freezing mark.
In the dead of winter, a few centimetres of snow wouldn’t be a big deal, but as 570 NewsRadio Weather Specialist Denise Andreacchi notes, we haven’t seen any snowfall since the spring.
“That would be the most snow we’ve seen on the ground in a long time. Two centimetres is enough to make for some tricky driving conditions, especially if it sticks.”
The City of Kitchener keeping an eye on this potential first snowfall of the season, reminding residents of some winter weather to-dos.
In a release, the city reminds property owners they have 24 hours after the end of a snowfall to clear sidewalks around their home.
Residents also want to make sure their cars are parked in the driveway, and not on the side of the road, so snowplows can get through.
Despite the forecast for some snow, it takes 8 cm or more before the city declares a snow event.
