Kitchener Rangers blank Otters to get back in win column

The Kitchener Rangers are back on the right track after a 4-0 win over the Erie Otters on Saturday.

Kitchener established it’s dominance early as they scored three goals in the first 6 minutes and 20 seconds of the game, including two from Jack Pridham, who recorded two goals and an assist on the night. Trent Swick scored his 11th goal of the year in the first as Justin Bottineau recorded his third goal of the year during the third period.

Following Saturday’s victory, the Rangers continue to be in second place in the Midwest Division, third in the Western Conference and third overall in the OHL standings.

570 colour commentator Paul Fixter said one of big reasons for the shutout win was the penalty killing unit, who went 4/4 on the night including a 5 on 3 for 34 seconds.

“They didn’t allow Erie to get back into the game, and obviously Jackson Parsons was a big part of that,” said Fixter.

Goaltender Jackson Parsons recorded his third consecutive first star of the game in the win, stopping all 33 shots he faced. Saturday’s win was Parsons’ seventh career shutout.

The Rangers will have close to a week to recover before they welcome the Owen Sound Attack to the Kitchener Aud on Nov. 29.
