Multiple injuries after crashes on Hwy. 7/8 near Stratford, Ayr Road in Brant County

Separate crashes led to closures on Highway 7/8 near Stratford and on Ayr Road in Brant County on Monday.

The collision on 7/8, or Perth Line 34, prompted a closure between Road 109 and Road 111 as of noon. The Ministry of Transportation provided an update shortly before 1 p.m. and said only one westbound lane and the shoulder remained blocked.

A spokesperson for Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed that the collision involved one vehicle. Four people were sent to hospital but the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Brant County OPP also responded to a collision on Monday, which occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on Ayr Road in the Paris area.

That crash involved a passenger vehicle and a commercial vehicle.

Three people were taken to hospital. While one person’s injuries were initially described as being life-threatening, OPP later said none of the injuries sustained were critical.

Ayr Road was closed between Paris Plains Church Road and Keg Lane, while Watts Pond Road was closed between Robbins and Nith Road. Those roads reopened shortly after 4 p.m.
