Kitchener manufacturer receives provincial funding for expansion

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A metal manufacturer in Kitchener is eyeing expansion and the province is backing the move.

Ball Service Group Inc. is investing more than $4.2 million to expand its operations and create a new division.

The goal is to manufacture and machine smaller parts, with higher tolerance. The Ontario government is supporting the investment.

Kitchener-Conestoga MPP and Minister of Red Tape Reduction, Mike Harris, said in a release, “Our government is building a stronger Ontario and creating the conditions for a strong economy by supporting key investments in our community.”

Harris announced Tuesday that the province is providing Ball Service Group Inc. with $421,768. The funding comes from the Regional Development Program’s Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) stream.

The manufacturing expansion will create eight new jobs and retain 25 existing positions in Kitchener.
