Make it 9 in a row: Kitchener Rangers continue to dominate with win over Spirit

Could we make it to ten?

The Kitchener Rangers continue to dominate in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), with a ninth straight victory against Memorial Cup Champs Saginaw Spirit Sunday.

Final score was 4-2, with Rangers Luca Romano, Trent Swick, and Andrew Vermeulen finding the back of the net.

570 NewsRadio Colour Commentator Paul Fixter said a shout-out is also needed for goaltender Jackson Parsons, who kept the Rangers in the game after a slow first period.

“Jackson faced 18 shots in the first period, had 39 saves for the game, a really solid performance … He gave the Rangers a chance to win when they didn’t come out with their best performance in the first ten minutes of the game.”

Fixter noted the Rangers were also able to shut down one of the most dynamic players in the OHL right now, Saginaw’s Michael Misa.

“Matt Andonovski individually gets a lot of credit for that, he plays against the top players on the opposition each and every night, and he did a real good job at shutting down Misa. But the team defence at large, did a tremendous job of focusing on him, and not allowing him to be a factor in this game.”

Up next for the East Avenue Blue, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds are in town Friday, wrapping up the Rangers four-game homestand.

Friday, Nov. 8 also marks the Rangers Remembrance Day game.

You can hear the game live on 570 NewsRadio starting at 6:30 p.m.
