Months-long drug trafficking case ends with 7 people charged
A three-month-long drug trafficking investigation has resulted in a number of charges laid against seven people.
On Oct. 16 the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) seized a number of drugs and other items. WRPS with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Guelph Police and Hamilton Police carried out four search warrants in Cambridge, Kitchener and one in Wellington County.
Officials noted two firearms, ammunition, drugs; including suspected cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, hydromorphone, and Canadian currency and three motor vehicles were seized.

Five males ranging in age from 20 to 26 from Cambridge, a 20-year-old male from Wellington County and a 38-year-old Kitchener female were arrested and charged with over 25 criminal offences.
Some of the charges they are facing include:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of counterfeit currency
- Failure to comply with a judicial release
The accused were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
