Stolen car case from Waterloo ends with 3 arrested at a break-in scene

Three suspects were charged in a case that began with one stolen car in Waterloo.

Waterloo Regional Police say a Honda Civic was stolen around 7:00 a.m. Thursday, from a parking lot at a business around Weber Street North and King Street North.

Officials say the suspect drove that car to a business around Weber Street North and Farmers Market Road in Woolwich Township, stole merchandise, and took off in the stolen Civic.

Officers got a tip soon after midnight, Friday morning, that the same Civic was in the Avens Street area in Waterloo, near the very edge of the municipality, at the end of Columbian Street West near Wilmot Line.

Officers arrived and found two men in the Civic, and arrested them.

Soon after, there was a call about a break-and-enter in progress on Balsam Popler Drive, just a couple streets away in that suburb.

Officers found a 42-year-old man walking away from the scene of the break-in call, carrying stolen property, and police identified him as the car thief suspect from the morning before.
