Nightly closures coming to Hespeler Road intersection near Highway 401

Work to repair asphalt, replace manhole collars and add a multi-use trail along Hespeler Road is set to get underway beginning on the week of Sept. 16, bringing nightly traffic disruptions to factor in to your drive.

A notice from the Region of Waterloo notes that work will roll out on Hespeler Road from the Highway 401 ramps to the Pinebush Road / Eagle Street North area, including in the intersection itself.

That work is expected to continue through to Oct. 4, bringing nightly alternating lane closures to the intersection of Hespeler Road and Pinebush Road / Eagle Street from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Furthermore, the right turn exit from eastbound lanes of Highway 401 onto Hespeler Road is also expected to close between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. The right hand turns will be accommodated onto Hespeler Road from the 401.

Access to businesses in the construction area will largely be maintained – though construction activity could temporarily impact access to entrances.

Staff with the region have encouraged motorists to avoid the area during construction if possible, and to plan for delays if you need to travel through there. Sidewalks will remain open and accessible.
