Guelph health officials report 13 substance-related poisonings in one week

Health officials in Guelph are warning of a potentially contaminated supply of meth that may have led to 13 substance-related poisonings in the city between Aug. 2 and 7.
The alert was issued by Wellington Guelph Drug Strategy (WGDS) and shared by Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.
According to WGDS, evidence from their drug testing machine suggests that the local crystal meth supply may be contaminated with “synthetic opiates.”
They’re warning those who use any unregulated drugs to use extreme caution as they may be “stronger than usual.”
To reduce your risk, WGDS advises carrying naloxone, avoiding using alone, starting with smaller doses, and using a Consumption and Treatment Services Site where you can be supervised by health professionals.
