Brant County Fire, Cambridge Fire, Waterloo Regional Police and Ontario Provincial Police were all involved in the search.
Rob Martin, Cambridge Fire Chief, said the water conditions have been extremely dangerous over the past few days, but they were trying to get back in the water whenever possible.
“The activity depending on the weather and the lightning, sometimes we have to pull the boat back in and redeploy … The boats that we have are designed to operate under extreme conditions and the staff are trained for that as well.”
The pair of boaters were last seen in distress in treacherous water conditions on the Grand River near King Street and Highway 8 Saturday night in Kitchener.
The first body was found earlier this week, confirmed Tuesday to be that of one of the women.
