First-degree murder charge laid for death of a woman in Brantford

A Brantford man is facing a first-degree murder charge for the death of a woman from the week before.
Police say they responded to a home on Hampton Street around noon on Friday, after getting a 911 call about concerns for a woman’s wellbeing.
Officers found a 40-year-old woman dead inside the home.
A 41-year-old man was also inside, in medical distress, and was taken to hospital.
Police announced on Monday that same man is now charged with murder.
They say he and the woman were known to each other, but do not specify how.
Police specify there is no threat to public safety.
No names will be released out of respect for the privacy of the families of the people involved.
