Several watch parties being held for Game 7 of Stanley Cup final in the region

If you’re looking to take in Monday night’s game 7 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers, there are a few local watch parties happening.

The City of Waterloo and the Uptown Waterloo Business Improvement Area will be hosting a watch party on the big screen in Waterloo Public Square as the Oilers attempt to win Canada’s first Stanley Cup since 1993.

Waterloo Mayor Dorothy McCabe tells the Mike Farwell Show it’s a chance to celebrate the Oilers as a community.

“If you want to come out, watch and make it a group experience, we are putting up a giant screen in our public square,” she said. “The game will be live where you can sit outside, I think it’ll be a gorgeous night and it’ll be a ton of fun. Enjoy the game with a whole bunch of other people in the community.”

Two other watch parties are also being held in the region. Bobby O’Brien’s will be hosting one at Celebration Square with pre-game live entertainment starting at 6 p.m.

The Gaslight District in Cambridge is also holding one at The District Square. A large big screen will be setup in the square for all to enjoy.

People are being encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and team spirit to the viewing party. It is not a “tailgate” style event so outside alcohol and grills are not permitted during the screening.

The Snack Shack concession booth will have snacks, drinks and more. For more info, click here.

Puck drop for the game is set for 8 p.m.
